Falling

Excellent autumn poem.

falling
gentle drop down
the sole flight of spent leaf
cut off from life-sustaining tree
spinning freely, wind-tossed, euphoric flight
lands among the ground’s dead fodder
fuel the tree roots tap
autumn’s leaves are
falling
